I'm getting a 522 receiver next tuesday. I would like both remotes to be able to do UHF.

I have a friend that has a 522 and does really need the Remote #2. Is there any way I can get a remote #2 switched to do UHF for Tuner #1 on the 522 receiver.

I was at his house, and I changed the remote code of Remote #2 to the remote addess of Tuner #1, then enabled the UHF remote in the receiver and then switched the Key at the bottom of the remote #2 to #1 and The receiver would NOT recognize the UHF signal from the remote.

Is their a special key for the bottom of the remote for enabling Tuner #1's UHF mode?

Thanks,
John

I think 1# is IR and #2 is UHF and that way for a reason.

There is an option in the setup menu to enable UHF Pro for TV1. I checked this and tried to use another Dish UHF remote with my unit to control TV1, and I still can't make it work.

Anyone out there with any ideas?

(BTW--remote 1 is ONLY IR, and remote 2 is both)

I've figured out a solution, so I will answer my own question.

Apparently, the 522 will only work with a remote labeled "UHF Pro." I was trying to use a UHF Platinum which did not seem to work.

In order to make this work, you have to follow the instructions in the manual to activate TV1 for UHF Pro, however a very important step that they seem to have ommitted is that you need to use your #2 (UHF) remote control to perform these steps.

Enable TV1 UHF Pro from the Setup Menu
Select System Information and highlight the TV1 Remote option
Use your #2 remote to perform the next steps
Press and hold SAT button until other light up
Select UHF channel 1-15 and press #
Press Rec and the setting for TV1 should change from IR only to UHF/IR

Now, if you want another remote to control TV1, find one that says UHF Pro on the back (my 921 remote works fine for this). Program the remote to the same channel that you selected above, and that's it.

Seems fairly simple, but I kept trying these steps with the #1 remote control, and it would never change the settings to UHF/IR. Then the fact that I was using my old 510 remote as an extra complicated matters further. Lesson learned!

Anyone want to buy a used 510 remote ? :)
