Want to purchase 322 or 522 but,...

I'm not sure if DISH will activate these units.

These units are only for lease from DISH, which is not an option for me.

I want to own one outright and subscribe with it.

Can I purchase a 322 or 522 (free of balance) from a third party and activate it?

Does DISH have any restrictions when doing this?

You might not be able to get one activated through "normal" channels (regular CSRs) but many people have been successful geting them activated by sending an email to ceo@echostar.com. There are a couple of threads on this subject (check the 522 threads).
