View Full Version : 921 blackout problem - is there an official solution?

I had my 921 installed on Sunday (and what a nightmare that was - but that's a different story).

I'm an old-time DirecTivo user and was expecting fairly similar functionality, so boy was I shocked the first time I sat down to use the 921. No name based recording?? What's the deal with that??

And the main problem I'm having, and haven't found an official response on is this - I tried to set up a bunch of recording events last night. Every single one of them failed, saying something about the program being blacked out.

I've also noticed that if I hit the record button while watching a program, it brings up a window that has the name of a totally different program and asks if I want to record it now. The channel is always the same, but the program name is different. If I go ahead and try to record, I get the same "blacked out" effor message.

Is there an official solution to this problem?

Will there be name based recording soon?

thanks

Paul

Can you post a screen shot of this "blacked out" message screen? I haven't seen it before.

The offical word is No Name Based Recording for the 921.

Ah - it's AKA Error message 692

It's discussed in this thread and some ideas are talked about but I didn't know if there was any official solution yet.

There hasn't been an "official" word on it yet.

Mark - I'm new here but I noticed you have connections with the 921 guys. Can you tell me if there might be another firmware update in the works? I understand they don't want specifics given out, but could you give a more generic response?

Thanks for the info!

Paul

It's in the works, although progressing more slowly than it has in the past. And this is one of the issues being heavily tested.

Thanks for the info. I guess for now I'll try the fixes listed on the threads I found. Remove all locks and if that doesn't work I'll try a reset of the system.

I'm glad to hear they're being extra cautious with the next release. I'm sure most people would rather have something solid later than have something buggy right now.

Thanks

But we have something buggy right now anyway.
