5000s guide

Hows the guide these days n the 5000s? I have mine in a closetr, thinking of reactivating to get HDTV and new free whatever when hd changes. Figure HD upgrade will be free since so few use modules.

My 5000 ended up in closet because guide was glaciaLLY SLOW. aNY UPDATES ON THIS?

Actually, 5000 models will no longer be able to receive high definition once that module is sent out for 6000's. That's what I've heard anyways.

Bob - do you have the modulator? If not, it'll cost you a pretty penny to pick one up just to be grandfathered into a 6000 when the changeover comes.

My 5000 went in the closet, too, when I got my PVR501. Of course the EPG & Info is very quick on the 501 since it's cached on the HD.

Yeah, all the older rcvrs are very slow for EPG & Info because of the limited memory & all the new locals, etc.

I was wondering if the spot beams was helping the guide speed. I have a extra coax, will have to plug in and give it a try.
