My understanding is that significantly viewed channels (for example from Hartford) will not be available unless your actual DMA is up. Even then it is up to the provider (Direct or Dish) to add significantly viewed stations. They are not under any legal obligation to do so. Springfield probably will not be added to DirectTV for a bit of a while. You are correct, WSBK is watched extensively in Western MA on cable, none of us can actually receive it over the air, so it would not qualify for significantly viewed. It is however a superstation, so if DirectTV wanted to make it available they could. It is business decision on the part of DirectTV not to offer superstations.

Springfield, MA is carried on DirecTV.

There is also one exception to DirecTV not doing the superstation delivery. They offer Denver's KWGN2 (a station that happens to be a superstation) into Colorado Springs, DMA.

And, before SHVERA permitted significantly viewed. Not sure if DirecTV is paying the superstation royalty for KWGN in that market, or if they just treated it as a channel by a retransmission agreement.

Springfield? What, you want to watch Kent Brockman, Krusty the Clown, Itchy & Scratchy, and McBane?
