I have been having this strange problem lately. I have a Hughes SDDVR 40. Every so often If I am watch a live program, the picture will go blank and there will be no sound. This only last for roughly 3 to 5 seconds and then it will come back. The odd part is if I rewind to where the problem was, it was recorded as if nothing strange has happened.

This has been happening for a while, It just has been happening alot more lately.

Has anyone been having the same problem.

Any suggestions?

If it's recording it, it's not losing the signal, so the problem could be somewhere in the connection, the input to the TV, or out of the box.

I think that it happens to all hughes dvrs. I have a hughes std dvr 80. I have the same problems, but it is not too bad.

Thanks for the quick replies.

EELLISON: I feel the same way. It really is not a big deal. I just thought that this was the beginning of the end of my DVR. I am glad that this might not be the case.

Thanks again.

It seems to happen when recordings stop. For instance, if you are watching live tv on tuner 1 and recording on tuner 2, tuner 1 will go blank for a few seconds when tuner 2 stops recording. Also, if you are watching a live program and recording same program, the picture and sound will go blank for a few seconds when the recording stops.

It appears as if it is changing channels, but changing it to the same channel that is was already on. Seems like a bug, but it is really not that bothersome.

Maybe I'm just lucky but I've never had this problem on either of my Hughes HDVR2s.

What type of dish do you have to receive signal from directv. You must have a multiswitch if you have more than one receiver using two line lnb dish. You also must have specialize multiswitch if you are using it in conjunction with a phase three dish(oval lnb dish). Make sure that you are also using RG6 cable instead of RG59(older cable company uses this). Although RG59 will work, you will probably have more signal drops or signal loss. :)

I have a standard multisat setup - 18"x20'' elliptical 3 sat dish, 4x8 powered multiswitch w/2 outputs going to Directivo and 3 outputs going to 3 standard receivers. RG-6 throughout.

I don't think that it is losing the signal. It is the same momentary blank screen that you get when you change channels.
