Howdy to all;
Here is a question I hope someone out there can answer. I am wanting NYC & LA DNS. My folks who live nearby have been able to get these for a few years. My Mother informed me that they don't watch these channels. The little gears inside my head went to work overtime to hatch a plan to take advantage of this.
My question is could my folks and I simply trade cards (realizing that we would take on each others identity)? I have a Sony box, they have RCA- does that make any difference. Should we actually switch recievers (something I would rater not do because I don't like the RCA recievers)? I have 2 recievers in our home, would trading out the card or box screw something up with my service?
It sounds like such a simple solution that i really expect something lousy to happen.
After much planning on getting some kind of long distant service this has just landed in my lap.
Thanks for any info anyone can offer.

The cards are married to the receivers. You could switch receivers both of you would have to learn new operating systems but that would work.

Terrific, that's the best news I've heard in a long time. THanks!

Just buy a new receiver you like and have your parents activate it and then switch.

As mentioned the card marries to the IRD. Your saying swapping cards. Do you have a sub-probably. Are the receivers both actavited under the same account(don't really matter if their both subs).Trying to think how I did mine,can't remember but to add locals it cost you $5/IRD-can't remember if the 1st was free-,that activates the ird to receive locals.
