Hello,

I have a three room system with one Tivo and 2 Phillips DSX 5500s? We only use the two rooms with the Phillips receivers once or twice a month in the winter. Lately every time we go to watch TV in those two rooms the receiver tells us that there are no channels that match our settings and to check our favorites. We do not use favorites and upon inspection the only channel recognized in favorites is 65535. I can flip through the channels but only see a black screen and no programming information. A reset (unplug) has so far always fixed this, but it is a little annoying to have to do a 5-minute process every time we want to watch TV. It happens on both Phillips receivers and resetting one does not fix the other. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Zachary

This is common for boxes that remain unplugged for extended periods of time (more than say 30 days), this and a variety of OSDs. Likely a problem similar to that, probably just the way the access cards are made and how long they can retain data without being interacted with.

The problem is that the Guide is only good for 36 hours. If your boxes are turned off for that long they don't have any info to draw from. There is also new software being transmitted to all DSX 5500 boxes. I would recomend leaving the boxes on. Even if you are not watching them.
