Hurts, but makes sense considering their base package is $32/month, so this gets them at least $7 in revenue from a sub.

Excellent news. They are finally starting to make my job a little easier. We can get a 10 pack of dishes for $200($20 each), whereby a syste costs $50. So, for only $5.50 more, I can now do a DP+Twin on a single dual tuner job and save some $$ on my wire!

I thought wing sat locals had to be available at the same price as those on the main slots, meaning no additional expense to the subscriber. Did SHVERA relax that requirement?

I believe he was refering to the retailer economics side, not the customer cost.

BobaBird,
They were referring to the TV Markets that have ALL their channels on the 148 slot. As you know the FCC free second dish rule does not apply to these markets since all the locals from the market are being treated equally.
See ya

Does this mean that if I want to reactivate my Dish account (I'm w/ Direct now), I can purchase a 322 through my local retailer and activate it on a normal account, not a DHA plan? If so, when does this become effective, as I just looked at Dish's site and it still indicates lease only on both the 322 and 522?
it's effictive now. They don't need to update the pages to indicate they can be purchased, why would they do that :)

The only reason why I brought up the web site is because it clearly states:
"Lease Only - Not for Sale"
If a person didn't read these forums, they would not know that they do not have to lease in order to activate this receiver. I'm sure it's just a matter of them eventually getting around to updating their site. :)
Is the mirroring fee ($4.99) still waived for purchased 322 always connected to a phone line or is this only done on leased receivers?
I think it's still waived

We prefer only coherent English. Please don't post nonsensical gibberish. Unfortunately, virtually every one of your posts is the same type of nonsensical mess so it's probably a lost cause.

Tony, I do understand that locals are treated equally if they're all on the same dish. Thanks for clarifying that's what the charge is for.

Wow! They're going to downgrade my service at no additional cost. Next they will replace FX with a local fox affiliate at No Additional Cost. We want Azteca 7 and Azteca 13 not America. Azteca 7, 13, and America together, that would be good. America instead of 13, not good.
I'm sure they are doing this because it allows them to save money. Mexican advertisers for the most part don't care about US viewership of 13. Azteca America advertisers do care about US viewership. So Azteca can offer America cheaper than 13 because Americas revenue is based on US viewership while 13 is based on Mexican viewership. I hope Dish isn't trying to trick viewers into thinking America is an improvement over 13 because it is not. Oh well, when 13 goes I can switch to Cable or DirecTV because Dish will have lost an exclusive offer and replaced it with something that isn't quite as good.

Being a resident in this DMA, I've been scanning the 148 every few days to find them. They aren't listed on Lyngsat.com even now and have not been online until this weekend. Dish announced they would be available by the 31st so they should launch them with in a week.

Darkman, where can I buy those bug strips you mentioned? If they work maybe I won't have to stand on the roof and take everything apart again this year. It's a constant battle between the wasps and me every summer.
Darkman
03-21-05, 12:17 PM
Ya.. i recall your previous wasp's situation
I don't know....
Logical answer(s) - would be to try and call DISH Network and ask them on where or how.. etc...
(and if they ll tell you, - it's for Retailers only.. - then next step would be calling some of your reputable local Retailers and make some enquires about it that way)
Of course, maybe can bypass calling DISH Network, and call some of 'em "reputable local Retailers" to start with... (and if those Retailers don't know.. maybe to ask those Retailers phone DISH Network and ask about Bug Strips, and then consider maybe to carry some in their inventory ;)
