Sub. to Virgin Cards?

Hi,

I called directv up as I wanted to subscribe to a p5 card. It was getting preview channels and when i put it in my D10 it would say call xt 764. Directv said they
cant turn this card on as it was part of another receiver before.

Why would directv have such a policy? So all the cards that I bough on ebay
in order to save some money are useless to me?

I was able to sub to a p4 card that was giving me a 711 message.

Or does this depend on who is taking the call and its upto them?

DirecTv probably does this to prevent piracy or something but I figured if that was the case then they would not send a new card because that would be putting more cards on the market. I have heard that it depends on who you talk to.

All new receivers have an ID number since they started using these a card married to one receiver is not "transferable". How much did you save on Ebay the card from Directv is only $20 including 2nd day shipping?
