Representing the largest year-to-year monthly sales spike in digital television (DTV) products this year, April 2002 DTV unit sales rose 134 percent compared to the same month last year according to factory-to-dealer sales figures released today by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA).
CEA announced that April sales of DTV products (integrated sets and displays) totaled 122,215 units and represented dollar sales of $217 million. Dollar sales in April 2002 rose 120 percent compared to last April.
CEA projects that 2.1 million DTV products - including integrated sets and displays - will be sold in 2002, 4 million in 2003, 5.4 million in 2004, 8 million in 2005 and 10.5 million in 2006.
