I used to have DVR from TimeWarner, and that DVR was able to record two shows simulataneously or record one while watching the other and I am really missing that feature since I'm stuck with 311 receiver right now.
Anyway, I've been researching about DVRs for Dish and I've decided to replace 311 with 522. The problem I'm facing with 522 is the installation.
First of all, I'm not interested in using 522 for two TV viewing. I don't even care for PIP feature of it either. However, because I'm so willing to have two shows being recorded at the same time, I'm interested in using it in a Single mode.
Just a while ago, I had a conversation with Dish Customer Service and the rep told me I need two seperate feeds from the dish to use that feature for two shows being recorded at the same time. I get this idea after researching again, but do I actually have to have two "physical" feeds from the dish?
Right now, I only have one outlet in my living room, probably the same number of outlet the most of people have.
Is there any other way, such as using splitter to activate the feature?
Thanks.

Dish pro plus will do that but the cable must be RG6

522 has UHF remote, you can put receiver in basement for instance and feed your tv, although that will be coax only

dish will give you free install so cabling will be someone elses hassle:)

Insufficient data to give an absolute answer, but a DPPlus Twin LNBF with DPP Separator will do the job you need as long as: You have a Dish500, not a StupiDish. Your in-wall cable is "clean" - that is it's a straight run to a point where it can be another straight run to the LNBF.

Since you have a 311, you should be fine for the upgrade to a 522. Since the DP+ Twin is now becoming prevelant, you should be able to get the installer to swap your current Twin(would assume a DP Twin, please correct if not) with the DP+ Twin and use a the DP+ Seperator at the receiver to hook it up. The only other isse is a convient telephone connection since the 522 will cost $4.99/month more without one. And don't forget the $4.98 DVR fee on it as well. If running a new line isn't much of an issue, you could get a used 721 and not have to worry about the phone line and DVR fee. However, the 721 is not NBR yet(if ever).

As for the UHF remote, since he wants to run it in single user mode, he would have to upgrade to a UHF pro with the UHF TV1 to do what was suggested.
