OK, two years ago I got a 721. Now, at the time I got whatever antenna they told me was current ... I guess it was a 500?

Do I need a new antenna if I want to get the 942? Also, if that's the case I assume I still need that 2nd antenna for the extra locals in my area (SF Bay)? Forgive the naivete; I'm a user but I'm definitely not all that tech-savvy on sat stuff.

You won't need a new antenna with the 942. The HD channels are all available with a Dish 500. You WILL however need a 2nd dish pointed to 148 to get your extra locals in San Francisco. The extra locals on 148 are KCSM (PBS), KRCB (PBS), KTEH (PBS), KSTS (Telemundo), KTNC (Azteca TV), KTLN (TLN), KMTP (Educational) and KTSF (Ethnic). I believe that HBO HD and Showtime HD are mirrored at 61.5 and 148 as well as 110, so you will get them on 2 different channel numbers if you get the 2nd dish.

Correction to my post above: HBO HD and Showtime HD are no longer mirrored on 61.5 and 148, so you'll get all of the Dish Network HD with a Dish 500. That's not to say it won't change later on down the line though.

The only HD content on the wings is CBS-HD NY on the 61.5 and CBS-HD LA on the 148. You have to be in a owner/operator area to receiver the CBS-HD station.

Wrong. Both HBO HD and Showtime HD are still on 148 according DISH's website, Tony's chart and Lyngsat. There is also an HD PPV channel on 148.

If you want to get the CBS-HD LA feed, look here (http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/programming/locals/cbshd/index.shtml) for specifics.
