I'm considering switching from Time Warner to DISH, but I've got some installation questions before I start the process.
On my property, I've got 2 houses. The main house is located in the front, and a 1 bedroom house is within 30 feet of the back of the primary residence. I want to install DISH on 2 tv's in both houses. Would I need to get two separate accounts to get this done, or can I get them all installed as a 4-room install? What's the deal with grounding? Does the DISH itself need to be grounded to the main power box outside of the house, or can it be installed anywhere you want it?
Thanks.

The grounding is supposed to be done before entrance to the home to the same ground rod where your electric is grounded at.
The system is supposed to be installed for one family dwelling. If you lived in two homes then I would say that it would be ok to have it in both homes on the same account but if someone else lives there the whole time then your not really supposed to put the same receivers from the same account in the second home as well. You would also have to have the same phoneline which has the same phone number registered for it at the second home as you do the first one.

What's the max length the ground wire can run from the DISH to the grounding rod? If the main power box is in the back of the house, can I have the DISH installed at the front of the house?

The dish location is first determined by best line of sight, then cabling issues, then aesthetics. There's ALWAYS a way to get it grounded sufficiently.
As for the two house issue, I suggest you go through a local retailer to determine if it's OK. ;)

The ground wire MUST be shorter than any of the wire runs to the receivers. Preferable as short as possible, so try to locate your ground block at the entry point of the structure and bring the wires inside at that point. Also, both structures should have seperate grounds at seperate meters IF they have seperate meters.

That would depend. Does a relative live in the second structure? Or do you rent it out? If you rent it out, is the cost of the TV to be piad by yourself and part of the lease? Technically, if you rent the 2nd house out, that party should have their own account with whichever company they want. If it is a relative, then it can be the same account.
