View Full Version : 921 with 1 line--DP+44?
My brother in law wants to add two 921s to his current E* system. Currently, he has 4 lines coming directly from his Dish 500 (110 & 119 only) with no switch. Can he just get a DP+ 44 Switch and 2 DP+ Separators and just connect the two lines where he wants to put the 921s to the DP+ Swith and Separators? Or does he need to get a DP34 Switch and run 2 new lines? What kind of LNB does he need? Does he have to have a DP Twin LNB or will a DP Quad LNB work?
ANy help would be much appreciated.

He can add a DPP44. You would have to connect two of the adjacent lines from the DP Quad (for example, feeds 1 & 2 from the Quad) into the inputs 1 and 2 of the DPP44. From there you can run 1 line to each receiver and use a DPP seperator at each of the 921s. Of course the DPP44 is a powered switch so there is also a power inserter in the mix.

The is also a Dish Pro Plus Twin. This would replace the Quad and he would have two lines entering the house to service the two 921s. Separators used for the dual tuners.
If there are more than these two 921s involved, then go with the DPP44.

Unh. His Quad might be a Legacy, in which case it would have to be swapped out to use a DPP44.
In that case, with only two dual-tuner boxes, the DPP-Twin is the right answer.

Well, it turns out that my brother in law has a Legacy Quad--he only gets signal from 119. He has 4 total receivers (1 921, 1 501, 1 508, and 1 301). He wants to upgrade his 508 to a 921. He needs to buy either a DDP+Twin or a DP Quad. Which one should he get? He might want to upgrade to 5 or 6 receivers down the road.
Thanks

Go with the DPP 44 switch and a DP twin. The DPP4 4 switch will work with legacy or DP receivers and if he adds additional receivers, all he will need is a second switch. If he only watches 2 or 3 satellites, he can cascade a DP 34 off of the DPP 44 to supply the 5th or 6th receiver.

ThanksUnh. That means he currently is running 5 tuners off of a Quad (any type)? I don't think so.
Anyway, yeah, DP-Twin plus DPP44 along with a couple of DPP Separators can get you the pair of 921's, along with the 501 & 508, and if it's just a 110/119 setup, add a DP21 for yet another tuner.
