I'm in the process of installing a just purchased a 942. Prior to this I had a leased 501 and 301. I chose to return the 301 and keep the 501 so that I could use PIP with the 942.

So my question is what is the correct way to connect the included separator. Do you put the 501 on line two from the dish and use the separator to split line 1 to the two inputs of the 942? Or do you add the separator to line 2 and have one end go to the 501 and the other to the second satellite connection of the 942? Or, some other way?

Thanks for the help.

I would say that you use the separator for the 942 only and keep the 501 on it's own feed from the lnb.

It all depends on what type of switch you have as you can ONLY use the seperator with a DPP44 switch.

Welcome aboard!

You DO know that the separator can ONLY be used with a DPP-Twin LNBF or a DPP44 switch, right?

Otherwise, I'll ASSume you have a standard DP-Twin, and that means you're short one feed. Replace the DP-Twin with a DPPlus version. Separator on feed #1 and as shown on the thing use it to feed the two tuners of the 942. Just match up the little pictures.

The LNBF has been upgraded to DP Plus on a dish 500. The LNBF has three outputs marked 1, 2 and three. The retailer suggested this LNBF upgrade

No, it has 2 outputs (on one leg) and one input (on the other leg). The input is for a wing dish.
