This is good news!
Now, one of the best CD authoring and player systems around will be ported to the PC, I hope! I really like their CD stand alone player for the CD video.

Is there any other MAC only software left that is not available for the PC world? Maybe Final Cut Pro but, IMO, there are better choices for that on the PC. FCP is good, but not the best.

What Macromedia product is that?

And name anything better overall than Final Cut... I love Final Cut Pro. I love Macs too. PS, Mac is NOT ALL CAPS. MAC means Media Access Control. A Mac is an Apple computer.

The headline should have read... "FLASH: Adobe To Aquire Macromeda" ;)

No, I meant what do they have that's Mac-only? Though they do run better on Mac (at least Flash and Dreamweaver do).

I think it's sad to see the death of Flash and Dreamweaver. Flash will probably stay as-is, relatively unharmed; but how long will Adobe allow Dreamweaver to compete with their own, inferior, GoLive. My guess is that they'll kill Dreamweaver and maybe integrate a thing or two from it into GoLive. But Dreamweaver as we know it is likely dead :(

News Flash

Yesterday afternoon a Shockwave was sent through the information superhighway when Adobe announced the acquisition of Macromedia. A spokesmen for Adobe said although the merger won't be a Breeze, top execs from both companies will Contribute to the combined company's success. When the merger is complete and the combined company is ready to Go Live, the After Effects will be felt world wide, he said. Multimedia and web design gurus will get a blast of Cold Fusion from using the new software. Now everyone will be using Adobe products, from circus Acrobats to Freehanded Illustrators. When the combined company makes its Premier, Fireworks are sure to go off! :D

I wouldn't announce Dreamweaver dead yet. Look at what happened with the HP/Compaq merger, both company's made printers and both made PDAs. HPs line of printers was vastly superior to Compaqs built by Lexmark printers and HPs Jornada Pocket PC was nothing compared to the iPaq. In the end the company went with HP printers and Compaq PDAs. I see Flash and Dreamweaver staying as is, Fireworks and Freehand getting the axe.

The difference is that was a more traditional merger. This is an outright acquisition. I fully expect to see Adobe kill everything but Flash and Director. I hope they don't but it would be just like Adobe :(

Oh right - like they'll kill Cold Fusion. :nono:
