Howcome it's cheaper to buy a new smartcard than it is

to upload a smartcard?
I mean a smartcard could have up to $99.91 worth of purchases on it, but yet a new smartcard costs like $50.
So isn't it just cheaper to throw away a smartcard and get a new one than it is to upload a smartcard with 9 pornos on it?

On a D* system (not sure how E* works) the information is held by the receiver temporarily when you change cards. The info is then transferred to the new card. BTW, for D*, you can order a new card for $20.
