522 Authorization?

I am currently using a 721 and I’m thinking of buying a 522. I remember from about a year ago that Dish would not authorize a privately owned 522. Is this still the case?
Also, do all models of the 522 have NBR or only the newer ones?

That changed on March 18, 2005. You can activate a purchased 522. If you buy one, you have to make sure that it has never been leased, since those still belong to Dish and may have outstanding balances on them.

Yes, all 522 harve nbr. The old ones are upgraded via a software download.
