OK, we are moving to the Paducah KY from the Springfield IL area... currently we have no locals, because of the need to change dishes, and the fact we were renting and did not even have permission to have the dish... just kind of a family project moving the dish and installing ourselves.

So anyways, here is my question/issue... so if we just yank our dish up and take it with us, when we arrive at our new location, will we be able to to easily get locals in Paducah? or should we contact Dish Network and and let them do the new install? ... thing is we REALLY want locals.

One added extra issue.... we would probably want a second receiver for the bedroom...

are there any old receivers to buy for cheap and use there? or does it take a newer more expensive receiver to use the dish500 system? I know you gotta pay like another $5 a month for that, but that's OK.

OR

would we be better off scrapping the whole thing and having DirecTV come in and install us a new system... would have to have the DVR or Tivo thing, we are addicted to that Dish Network DVR, can't live w/o that!

Don't go with DirecTV. I had them and hated the Tivo. If you are happy just stay with Dish since you are moving.

You might change your mind if you dont have a credit card. All Dish Mover's, Dish'N It Up, and Dish Upgrades now require a credit card. Without one you will have to pay full price for an install or upgrade. There are NO exceptions. They dont care if you want to go back to cable or DirecTv, they want that credit card number or else no go. If you have a SuperDish you will have to pay $200+install which is around $100 or so for the install and if you need any DishPro adapters they will be $50-80 a piece. That all adds up a good bit. I sent Dish Network a long email about the credit card requirement.
