The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia overturned rules by the Federal Communications Commission that would have required certain video devices to have technology to prevent copying digital television programs.

This is hardly over. The MPAA will probably appeal. I hate the RIAA & MPAA.

More importantly, this ruling only means that the FCC can't madate the flag on their own. Congress is still free to enact legislation requiring the broadcast flag. The decision is more about FCC overstepping their authority than about the broadcast flag itself.

It's still a victory, but not as much of a victory as most people think.
