This my sound like a stupid question, as with the new recievers like the 942 we don't have to choose. But I have just bought a Samsung 46" DLP and have a DVR 942 ordered, so I can have both. I am just curious if you had to choose which would you choose? I have had a PVR 721 since they came out and am addicted to it. I couldn't see having a TV without it. Since I haven't had HD yet, I can't compare it. So which is more important to you? DVR or HD?
Both.
Seriously, having a DVR is the ultimate in control of tv viewing. As you say, I couldn't see having a tv without it. Before I quit smoking, it was great for taking smoke breaks during a movie. As far as HD goes, it's great and I really enjoy the sharp, crisp images my HDTV produces, but given the choice of having only one or the other, I would have to go with the DVR. Thankfully, I don't have to make that choice.
Congrats on getting your new Sammy DLP. When your 942 arrives, you will think you've died and gone to heaven.

If you already have the HD monitor, then you have to go with the HD over the DVR. But really, living without a DVR nowadays is just nutz. They just make perfect sense.
Couldn't choose. Once you experienxe both, as you have with your 721, you'd desire both.

I agree....both is the right answer.
However if I had to choose and I could only get one or the other. Hands down I would get a DVR. It is nice to view on HD, but I could not live with out recording. even if it is in low def
