There is no working solution for legacy equipment with four satellites. The sw64 only works with three satellite positions.
Mike500, I really hate to tell you this but you are wrong. The sw21/sw64 cascade setup does support four satellites for legacy equipment.

I thought the same as you did, until I saw the Tech Chat, yesterday 05/09/2005. He said that it was not possible.
I guess the Dish experts are wrong.

It depends on the model receiver. Suposedly you can cascade an SW-21 onto a SW-64 on DPP IRD's running Legacy IRD's & Switches provided that you DO NOT cascade the #1 input after the power adder (i.e. you cannot pass the power through the SW-21, you either run a longer line to where the OUTPUT of the satellite signal comes off the power adder, or only cascade outputs 2, 3, and/or 4).
Years ago I tried cascading an SW-42 & SW-21 to my 4000. It worked, but was intermittant (my cable lengths were near the maximum before the cascading, adding the small amount of cable necessary to cascade plus the affect of the SW-21 put the system over the limit).

BTW some posters here have said that the SW-64 cascade worked for the 921 in getting 61.5 (for VOOM Originals) added to systems that already had 148. So there is hope!

Yeah,
I remember the SW42 and the SWAJ from the early days. They were very tempermental.
I always preferred the legacy twin cascade with the sw21s.

My SW-42 worked flawlessly! I had an SW-64 sitting in a box for years before I coud get it to work, but I copuld always count on the '42. Cascading, that was another matter. As I previously mentioned I'm pushing the limit on cable length here (which was problby why I couldn't get the '64 working initially). I have since learned a trick that should work for any switch needing a power adder: be sure that the power adder is on the shortest length of cable. You can use longer cables on outputs 2,3, and 4, just keep #1 short. You don't even need an IRD hooked to #1, just a good quality short RG6 from power adder to the switch.
