View Full Version : Interactive Program Guide
I was just thinking about how important an IPG is, because it was one of my hate-it things about cable that just got changed today - and I now like the cable many times better. You look at the IPG all the time to select shows to watch, but what IPG would you most prefer to use (don't have to like the rest of the box)? If I left one out, write it in!

Currently the tivo is the most functional for me.
The Replay guide (not listed) would be my next choice.
The Dishplayer and 721 are fairly good, lacking mainly in search functionality. I also had some issues with the lack of ability to do odd type recordings such as m-w-f. You either had to set a m-f timer or 3 seperate timers... poor design.
Older directv guides were functional and looked ok. But each manufacturer apparently had their own twist on what functions they had?
Dish network old style... blah. Dish network open tv.... blah.
Tv guide Interactive stinks. Only showing 1 and a half hours and the scrolling is a little odd. Scheduling is limited.

Sorry, forgot about the standalone DVR underdog :)
I agree - I voted TiVo as well, that's some darn nice stuff. Then I'd probably take i-Guide (the new TV Guide Interactive), then MS TV Foundation (that would be above iGuide if it wasn't Microsoft...).
I find the DISH guides a little bland, but apparently, most people like the new OpenTV one.
And the worst IPG ever award goes to the old TV Guide.
