I am planning on buying a 721. I have Dish 500 with two receivers. I want to keep one and replace the other with the 721. As I undrestand it, the 721 requires two separate cables from the dish. What do I need to do this? Another switch? TIA

You will need another cable run to the 721 and a SW64 switch.
If your D500 has 2 dual LNBFs you can replace your SW-21 switches with a SW-64 as Chris suggests.
However, if you have the TWIN LNBF it is cheaper and easier to swap it for a QUAD. Some local dealers might let you "trade in" your TWIN for a QUAD. In fact, they might give you something for duals & SW-21s towards a QUAD, too.

I'm pretty sure it's a Quad, but how can I be sure?

Get into the point dish menu, then do a "Check Switch" or "View Switch Configuration".

It is very unlikely you have a QUAD if you only have 2 receivers.
I have heard of some DNSC installers putting QUADS or SW-64s on new 2-rcvr installs just because they were out of the right parts but that is a very rare occurence.
If you lucked out, well, congratulations. You are ready for a 721 & even another rcvr.

It's not a quad. I checked the switch, and it's an SW21. So, where should I go for a quad. DishDepot?
