View Full Version : 942 won't stay on
My 942 will not stay powered up. If I hold the power button to reset it, the green light comes on for TV1 and stays on for about 15 secs, then goes out. There is no video output during any of this. The unit still hums like the HD is still running. Any ideas?

Check for over heating, if that proves to be the answer then put spacers 1/4" or higher under the legs.

I've had what you say happen, see green light for few seconds and then everything goes out and unit appears to stay off.
For me when this happened, I eventually got impatient and hit the power on my remote and the unit came on already in the "aquiring signal" mode. When it finished, all was ok.
I almost wonder if this unit is actually doing part of it's reset routine "in the dark" so to speak, even without being turned on. Next time I just may leave it alone longer and see what happens.

Thanks! I will try that.

Any time you do a re boot, whether pull plug or button, you will have periods with a blank screen. You just have to wait for the cycle to complete. When you do a "check switch" it will take 5-10 minuites for the new download and "acquiring satellite". Great Machine!

The power button on the remote trick did not work. I left the machine running all day and it never came back. My installer replaced the unit today with a new one.
