Hi,

Our 522 that we have had since January, just froze this past Sunday. Had to do a power cycle, then if froze downloading the TV guide. Then it said it was erasing the disk and we lost EVERYTHING. Called support ran through all the tests no weird codes to be found. Since then it has been fine, until tonight. Watching TV it stutters then freezes. Had to power off and back on. working again.

I am going to call support tomorrow when I get home, but thought I would check here for any thoughts or ideas.

It has L236 as the software version.

Thanks!!

It could be that your 522 is overheating. Always make sure that your 522 has plenty of clearance from other heat producing devices and make sure that the ventilation slots aren't covered. Also it is a good idea to put ALL DVRs on a UPS to help prevent power problems.

HI,

It has adequate ventilation. the front and back where it sits are completely open, and there is at least 4 inches of clearance on top and 2 on each side. So the air flows freely. Its in the same place my old TiVo was, and it never went nuts like this!

I think the drive is just failing, but they are sending me a new one UPS 2nd day, I talked to them last night. So I hope to get it Friday or Monday at the latest.

Thanks!

The UPS is a VERY good idea all of mine are on one. John
