My 510 is stuck in a loop where it will aquire the sat signal and go through all 5 steps (1of5, 2of5 etc...) when its completed 5 of 5 the unit shuts off again and it starts all over again. i let it go for 2 hours and it never left the loop.
Right before this happened I was going to watch a recorded show and ALL my recordings were gone and the screen said i had 100hrs & 11 minutes of space left to record. the unit then locked up and went into the loop.
I called dish and they had my try holding the power button for 10 sec. still no luck
they also sugessted that i unplug it from my surge protector and plug it straight into the wall (never heard that one before) but i tried it and still no luck.
Tech suggested that I sign up for the DHPP for $5.99/Mo and she would ship me out a new reciever for free. With a box to return the broken one postage paid. my 510 is well out of its waranty and I have never had an extended waranty on any of my equipment. tech then adjusted my bill by $9.00 for being without service for a couple of days (my 2 301's still work fine).
As far as my recordings go, "oh well" its only tv now i can fill up the new hard drive with new shows.
I just wanted to share a good experience working with E* and I have 2 questions. After i get my replacement 510 is their any harm in cancelling the DHPP? and has anyone heard of this type of prob?
