Sorry if this doesn't really seem to fit with the 942 forum. Does anyone know if using a composite to svideo adaptor might improve picture quality from the 942 composite out jacks? Not that I have a problem with image that the 942 puts out on composite...just wonder if it might improve an already surprisingly good image.
Never mind. Tried it. Did not like it. Picure lost detail. Color not improved. Thankfully returns not a problem at radio shack.:nono2:

Doubt it... Usually going from one cable type to another does not improve quality. I guess in some cases cabling or filtering could improve a dirty signal a bit but from what you are saying I don't think you would get an improvement.
A composite to S-video adapter would only be an improvement if the Y/C seperator in the adapter was better than the one in the device you are connecting.
The only adapter I could find on the Radio Shack site was a $14.95 box that also converts analog audio to digital. At that price, it probably uses simple filters (notch, low pass, bandpass) instead of a more costly 3D comb filter.
I just bought a Denon receiver that cross-converts S-vid and composite, and upconverts both to component. I haven't been able to see any improvement in signal quality; it seems the real benefit is being able to run just one cable.
