Delivery of 942

I talked to the executive office of DISH and leased a 942 earlier this week. They told me they would be shipping the receiver to me and we scheduled an install. I called CSR today to ask for a tracking # for the receiver so I could make sure somebody would be available to sign for it on its scheduled arrival date. They told me that it wasn't being shipped and that the installer would bring it with them. I was really hoping to get it earlier and do the self-install and activate before the installer arrives trick. Has anyone existing customer who leased a 942 had the installer bring it out instead of it being shipped or was I just mis-informed? :confused:

bjb236: Yes, I think you were misinformed. I spoke with a super nice lady from the executive office on a Friday and the 942 was delivered the following Thursday. We had scheduled the install out a bit because I was all prepared to do the install myself (already had the SW64 switch in place, ran the RG-6 cable, etc.) but E* has a policy of professional installs for the 942. I installed the 942 on the following Saturday, activated the 942 and cancelled the installer's visit. Allow about an hour for the 942 to format the hard drive, download software, reboot a time or two, etc. before you are ready to call E* to activate. Go to the tech support folks and not to the CSRs when you call in. I love my 942! :D

This has become a serious problem. There are more and more instances of people falling in love with their 942's, bringing about a higher rate of divorce among Dish Network subscribers. Congress is in the midst of a conspiracy investigation. More to come later.....

The Executive Office called me on a Friday, and it was shipped to me. The same rep called on the next Tuesday with my tracking number, and it was in my hands on Wednesday.

Thanks for the info. I also scheduled my install out a while because of some vacation plans. I hope the CSR was wrong and it comes this week and I can fall in love with the 942 as well!
