hey guys just a quick question I am hoping there is an answer to. My locals on the 811 to get to them I have to press 003, because they are assigned as 3-00. I dont not have OTA hooked up I just want my locals through the dish, is there any way I can just get the machine set to where I press 3 and it goes to 03, instead of 3-00, and 8-00 and so on and so forth, thanks in advance

Nope. 3 is reserved for locals off the Dish. Also OTA Channels can support sub-channels. You could get around this using an external remote. This has been brought a few times so I suggest a search might bring some nuggets of info.

sorry I must have asked that in a weird way, I want only Dish locals, which I have coming through but they are assigned to 3-00, I have to press 003 to get to channel 3, and so on and so forth for each one of my locals, I just want them to be assigned to 03, or 3, but somehow I cant do that is there a setting to do this, instead of 3-00, turn it into 03, and all i Have to press is 03, and search didnt turn up anything, I will try a couple different ways, thanks

Sorry stuart.. My mind is mush at the moment. Too much real work going on. I still believe the answer is no, but it might be related to mapping of Analog OTA and Cable. If I am wrong, someone please save me. ;)

Sorry stuart628. You can't get to your E* locals by just pushing "3" (or even "03") on the 811. (Although you can on the 311, but it's not an HD receiver.) Theoretically, you should even have to push "0030", but you don't. ;) If you type in "003", the "-0" is understood. It has something to do with the 811 being an HD receiver, and the fact that you can receive your local digital channels OTA, but I'm not sure what exactly. For example, if you wanted to tune in your local OTA digital channel 3 (which we'll assume is 3.1), you have to type in "0031". This will get you to "003-1".
Just in case you're thoroughly confused now, the short answer is (unfortunately :( ) NO.

well that stinks, oh well I always have my 625 run to the same tv, so if the wife wants to watch locals she can flip to that, I dont know if she will get the whole pressing 003, when all her life its just been 3, thanks guys for your help!

Actually, stuart, (not to rub salt in the wound, I promise ;)) your locals are somewhere up in the quadruple digits. They are just remapped to their normal local numbers for your "convenience". You'd be surprised how quickly you will get used to it. :)
