Hiyas:

I think I know the answer to this but just thought I'd ask the experts before ruling out an option. I have a Sony VPH-1272. It has RGBHV BNC inputs. I'll be upgrading everything to high-def and was planning on going with the Key Digital component video-to-VGA converter for the 1080i signal. A friend has this setup and it looks fantastic.

However, I saw that someone is now making a DVI-D input board for my projector (seen here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=5652441#post5652441)) and I got really excited about it. However, it says that it is not HDCP compliant. So, does that mean that the signal from the HDMI output on the 942 would not work well going into this DVI-D card, even if I used a HDCP-compliant HDMI-to-DVI switch like this one (http://www.ramelectronics.net/html/EXT-HDMI-441A.htm)?

I don't believe that the HDCP stuff has been activated yet on the 942, so theoritically, it should work. But, if it's not activated now, it may be in the future, at which point you'd be out of luck.

This risk of HDCP computability problems seems too great IMHO. The 921 (buggy) has DVI-I, which should be able to feed your projector directly.

Interjecting somewhat on but off topic, I use the Gefen 2 to 1 DVI switcher. It is a very high quality unit and I have never had any issues with it. I am running an 811 and a Samsung DVD-HD931 thru it.

Did you notice the product you linked from the Imaging Science forum states that it can be upgraded to HDCP?

Yes, but he said it would take a legal change of some kind and he didn't think it would happen...
