DVR for a new service

I just got my Dish network service installed yesterday with a DVR. I am not sure but isn't the 625 free with a new service or is it just the 510 (which they installed). Anyway, is there any way to record one show while watching another on this DVR? I thought I could do that, but when the time came for a show I set it to record, it switched to that channel and did not let me change the channel back unless I stop the recording.

On the 510 - not possible. You CAN watch a previously recorded show while another is being recorded.

I don't know about the 625
