A decent offer ... Especially allowing current annual subs to resubscribe early (add another year) and get the old price locked in.

Currently: $11.99/mo or $119.90/yr ($10)
New Price: $14.99/mo or $149.90/yr ($12.50)

Re-subscribe by September 1st and get the next year for $119.90 instead of $149.90 when due. Not bad if one wants to save $30.

So this is why they said under $15 in their press release. I remember when it was $9 and I do not think it was that long ago.

If I read TNGTony's page correctly, the price has been $11.99 / $119.90 since April 1st, 2003. Prior to that it was $9 / $99.

Before the $9 there was a time when DISH Network was collecting $9.99 for the service.

I guess the Satellite uplink facillities and other associated costs should be eatin' by an angel.

It costs Angel to broadcast those channels and it takes money to pay for their use of the satellites, pay bills, and so forth. It looks like they are trying to provide some more entertainment in their package in which do not have bad influences as other channels may have in the basic packages offered by DirecTv and Dish Network.
