I was wondering if there was a way to remove the junk (unused/unnecessary files) that is on my PDA. It won't let me delete them. Things like ICQ, messenger, sounds files that are in the windows folder..... I have a feeling that this is not an easy task (something I don't have the knowledge or equipment to do) but it never hurts to ask. Thanks,

It is simple to remove things from the Palm system, but I guess it is too late for that suggestion. :D

Don't you have file manager? Use it.
For software applications, use your active sync program.
Not hard at all. I just went into windows folder on my PDA and deleted one of the big 650K alarm files I never used. Do you know how to use the pointer? Select the file to be deleted with your pointer but hold the pointer on the file for a few seconds. A menu will open and give you the option to delete the file. Maybe that was your problem???

I'll pretend your not being a not nice person.
File Manager? File Explorer!?!
When I push and hold it doesn't give me the option to delete (it's not bold), only copy/send via E-mail.../Beam File.../ and Set as Ringtone [My Device>>Windows>>Alarm1 (as an example)]
My big question was about the embedded programs - MSN Messanger, AIM, Yahoo, ICQ... all the crap that they charge for you to use (T-Mobile) but I would also like to remove things like the pictures that they have (i.e. My Device>>Windows>>Utah) and clearview PDF viewer and Pocket MSN. This stuff takes up memory and there seems to be nothing I can do about it.

Sorry I led you astray on this. But the only files you should be deleting are NON-system files. The ones you mention are listed as system files and they are locked. Utah is a png that resides in two places, the windows place is a system call but the pictures file is not and can be deleted. Alarms1-4 are system files. you can add alarms6+ and delete them as desired.
The Cleartype is also part of the system and I also find it useless. I needed a PDF viewer that displays graphics so I downloaded the PDA version of Acrobat. Yes, it requires more memory!.
One thing you can do is begin to build applications that are specialty on your memory card. Like I have my GPS ap on a card with all it's map files. Takes a full 1 Gig card. I have several games and time waster stuff, movies and music on another card. I work typically with 9Mb of floating memory.
I just bought a Spanish /English translator and I will have that on it's own SD card since it is specialty software.
Most utilities I keep onboard. Like Smart Video, My expense stuff, etc. but I do keep data files, sound files, notes, etc. all on the SD card.
The ICQ, MSN and Yahoo stuff, I don't have on my IPAQ6315 with T-Mobile service.

That's great you didn't get stuck with all that messaging junk like I did. Good for you! It counts as a text message even if you have a WiFi connection. I use another app. to do that.
I, too, had to download Adobe for the PDA. I couldn't get cleartype PDF viewer to run because it kept giving me an insufficient memory error. Adobe works - and I prefer it anyway.
I try to keep as much as I can on the memory card. Most of the programs I run aren't things that have to be placed in the main memory.
I was just wanting to clean things up a bit. I did remove a bunch of the icons, for programs I never use, that show up under start>>programs.
