I am trying to burn a bunch of pictures to a dvd and with every file that I attempt to move to the folder for burning I get the attached error message. What's the deal?!?!? Any clues?

Inserting a blank DVD opens the "CD Drive F" window as shown. I swear that I remember a line saying "write these files to DVD" when I dumped some files to DVD previously. I have no idea what has changed. Any other methods to write data files (pictures) to DVD? It makes no difference if I use a + or a - DVD R. It seems like it isn't recognizing the DVD as a writable device.

Have you tried using a third party program like Nero Burning Rom or Roxio Easy Media Creator? I forgot you could even burn CDs and DVDs directly from Windows with XP until I saw your screen shots. I never burned anything that way, I used to use Roxio but now I use Nero because of DVD Shrink. Both are excellent programs.

Looks like Sonic DVD will work, but I would still like to know why I can't do the drag and drop thing in Win XP. Very odd.

You can only burn CDs in XP, not DVDs, data or otherwise.

I swear I thought I did it before, but obviously not if that is the case.

Now I have another problem. I have a folder within a folder on my desktop that I want to rename. It comes up and says it is read only and won't allow me to change the name. I turn off read only in "properties" and it immediately goes back to read only when I hit "apply" and "OK" and won't allow me to change it. None of the files (pictures) within the folder is marked "Read only". This is one of 25 sub folders within a folder. All other 24 folders were no problem in renaming. Any cure for THIS ONE? Computers... bah humbug
