DP 508 error code 04bc (Hard Drive)

My 508 seems to have lost its hard drive (error code 04bc). First symptom last nite was an inability for the PVR/DVR to work; however the receiver does work. This morning, there is no hard dirve. After unplugging, reboot (5 sec hold on power button) and removing/replacing the card, the hard drive does not read.

Time for a replacement? If so, what are the recommendations. (I own the 508 and don't have the service plan)

Time for replacement. Add DHPP and its free. Without Dhpp it will be either $35 or $65. You could upgrade to a 510 to get some more recording time, but the 510 costs an extra $4.98 a month for the dvr fee.

I talked to Dish. They charged me $20 for a rehab replacement, plus $15 shipping. I knew about the 510 upgrade (don't need it) and the DHPP, but I guess my conscious wouldn't let me go down that road (cancel after one month). Too bad I lost about 20 hours of recording on the original 508, but the 508 was 3 years old and had been used a lot.
