Is there free software for burning CDs out there that will automatically randomize the songs after I put them in the playlist? It is really a pain to manually move them around so I get a mix of music.
OR
Can ITunes or Windows Media Player do this, and I'm just not looking closely enough?
Thanks!

You can randomize songs in iTunes when they are being played back but their is no randomize button per say when burning to disc. That said you can easily randomize a play list by clicking on one of the headers at the top. There are a whole host of view options that should easily randomize your list. Things like date added, file size, beats per second, my rating.....

WMP will also play in a random order.

Actually you can 'randomize' in iTunes before you burn your CD...
Put the songs you want on the CD in a new playlist. Select the new playlist. Under the Controls menu, hit Shuffle. The order of the songs in the playlist will change. If you don't like the new order, unclick Shuffle, then click it again to get a new 'random' sorting.
When you get an order you like, use the Burn icon.

Thank you! I'll try it.
I burn a lot of CD's since I work week on/week off 150 miles away, it's a long drive to work, so each week, I usually end up burning a few new CDs to take with me.

I have been transferring a bunch of my old LP's over to the computer. Wow is that a long tedious project. If only I could get my turntable to play at 66 2/3 RPM and then adjust the pitch (and still retain quality) I might make some progress. This isn't a project you can just set up and leave since every 15 minutes or so you have to stop and flip the record. I have been doing some manual pop and click removal also, mostly easy stuff between songs, but that just adds to the time involved in the project. If I get a couple of transfers done a day I feel I am doing good, and, since I have several hundred to transfer, this could take a while. :(

The greatest thing you could do (if you have an iPOD) is get a connector for your stereo. I don't have an iPOD but I do have an MP3 playing indash CD player. I can get about 10 albums onto 1 disk at 192 Kbps. I makes things nicer and my car alot cleaner (it displays all CD info on the player's screen.

One MP3 CD will play for about 10 hours. Long enough to go from Omaha to St. Louis and halfway back before songs start to repeat. I'm looking at new cars right now and am going to have a six CD MP3 player in the new one instead of just the single disk. 60 hours of music. :)

You should try a DVD loaded up with MP-3's. You could probably drive coast to coast. :D I have one that I made just for the fun of it and if I am going on a long trip and want something more familiar than my Sirius programming I will take the laptop and the single DVD mp3 disc and play it through the car stereo using the cassette adaptor.
I thought about that. It would take me a double density to get most of what I have ripped onto one disk. :)
