View Full Version : 811 feature request

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this so feel free to move it if not.

I would like to see two features added to the guide to make viewing more pleasurable:

1. When displaying the program guide, it would be very useful to see the channel "info" at the top of the screen (possibly next to the video) when scrolling thru the guide rather than having to press the "info" button to get a decription of the program every time I cursor up or down thru the guide. The 625's do this....

2. It would be useful to scroll to the left most portion of the guide and highlight the channel identifyier (FOW-W, HBO-F, MSNBC, etc.) and get a breif description of what type of content that provider broadcasts.

Thank you...

Welcome.

Yup this is a good place to post this request.

Would like to make a comment though.

1. Certainly a good feature, I love this feature on my 522. Although I know that this is only possible on the 522 since the data is buffered to the DVR's Hard Disk Drive, where as the 811 is running on a physcial RAM memory size allocation.

Well that would explain part of it, but if you press the "info" button, there doesn't appear to be any lag in displaying the program information, so I question where is that data is coming from/stored? Is it coming from a transponder on the sat or is it already stored on the device in memory.

On a side note, I came from D* and the Zenith HD-SAT520 had a great interface and no harddrive but did act as I outlined above. Obviously these are two completely different pieces of equipment but it never hurts to ask :)

It sure would be nice to have access to changing more of the guide attributes such as transparancy, font size (they're huge) , color schemes, etc... However, given the number of issues people seem to be having with the 811, I suspect the eye candy will have to take a backseat to the functional issues for the time being.

Regards,

Michael

Nothing to do with the receiver having a hard drive. It's just a design of the gui the newer models have. The 322 has it and it has no hard drive

I think the issue is the Physical RAM on the 811 not the fact it does not have a hard drive..
