Can someone explain the attached error:

ERROR 852

The program for this timer event is not available.
Channel: 183
Satellite: Unknown
Time: 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Name: Rides
Error: 03 - 0x04

I am of course subscribed to channel 183 (TLC) and the weather was fine last night. This is the second or third time I've seen this error on L215.

It would be neat if Rides in fact was not on in that time slot last night and so it didn't record it because of that, but somehow I suspect that's not what it's saying!

Thanks,

Prior to 215 (example 213) sometimes I would get an error screen stating the this program has been Blocked. There is no reason for the channel to be blocked and I can manually tune to it, thus proving that there's no reason that the recording couldn't be performed. This would occur right at the start of 5 minute flashing clock symbol. Rebooting always fixed the problem but if you're not right there to see it you'll get a missed timer event. I haven't seen this happen with 215 (it rarely occurred with 213) but maybe this is what you're experiencing.

Yes, I got this prior to L215 too. This was usually my clue that a software download had taken place but had not yet installed (although sometimes it happened on its own). I agree that it's similar in that it basically causes you to lose your event. I don't know if it's the same error with a new message, or whether this is possibly some kind of new bug or error condition I don't understand. This is about the second or third time I've seen it since receiving L215.

I think the error I got (back in 213) was 690 something. Channel Blocked or Unauthorized" message. One thing you should NOT do is force the recording manually. Both times I tried that I wasn't able to stop the recording. I would go through the DVR list select the recording and choose "stop" but the red light wouldn't go off. I rebooted but lost the entire recording afterwards.

I think it's guide related but that's just a guess.

Well, now I know one thing that can cause an 852 error – a DEAD SATELLITE… I had a timer set to record a program off DiscoveryHD (9421) at 10:00-11:00PM (7/19).

When the 110 Sat took a dump I was channel surfing the 300 movie block and started getting the Lost Sat Lock banners. First thing I thought was I’d just lost my DPP44 (I really should know better by now and just check here first!)

Anyway, I tried cycling power to the DPP44 – No change. Next I tried a check switch – that’s when I got the friendly reminder that I was about nuke my recording if I proceeded. Finally I tried a front panel reboot – as it came back to life that’s when I got the 852 error. Specifically:

Error 852
The Program for the timer is not available

Channel: 9421

Time: 10:00PM – 11:00PM
Name: National Parks
Error: 03-0x00

I hope this is my first and last experience with an 852 error…
