Non-responsive 942

Several times now I have returned home or woke up to find my 942 in a non-responsive state. The screen is blank (not black, just darkened like there is no video signal) and the all front panel lights are off. It does not respond to the remote control. The cooling fan is running and the hard disk is spinning. I cannot preform a front panel reboot. I have to unplug the 942 to force a hard reboot and then it works fine. It does not record any events when in the non-responsive state. My switch is a DPP Twin with a Dish 500 for and a second dish for 61.5. I run the 942 only in Single mode. It has done this before and after the 227 software release.

The last time this happened was last week. I went on vacation last Thursday and returned on the following Tuesday. No events were recorded after Thursday. After the hard reboot, the event schedule looked OK.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

I haven't...I'd suggest calling tech support, and if they give you a run-around, email this to me, along with your receiver CAID, smartcard ID number and phone number, and I'll send it directly to the 942 team.

I've seen it twice, but each time the power had gone out in the house sometime during the day. I have to unplug and plug the unit to boot up.

Mine was this way Tuesday Morning (7/18). Had to power button reboot. That is the first time.

Geodi. Unless the power is out for hours at a time I would suggest getting a UPS. It might save your recordings sometime in the future.
