For the first time I lost everything on the 921 hard drive. In my case there was not really anything I cared that much about. We accumulate stuff we might watch and often wind up deleting it anyway. There were about 5 hours of free HD storage left. Just prior to installing L216 I manually recorded
an OTA program from WLAC-DT (CBS) in Nashville. I almost never manually record a program but this time I manually started and stopped the recording. I never looked at the program but it showed 48 minutes in length which was correct based on when I started and stopped it, so I don't think this qualifies as a ZSR. Immediately after recording this program I did a soft reboot to install L216 and everything appeared fine after L216 installed. When I went to watch the program a couple of hours later there was a black screen and lots of disk activity. After I cancelled out everything on the hard disk was gone, showing 158 hours of free SD and something like 22 hours of free HD space. Two timers were all that were left showing. I had some concern over whether the 921 would work normally after this but I set a timer from 10 to 11 pm and it fired and correctly recorded a program.

It sounds like you lost the 'PTVData.dat' file. That contains the program listings. Unfortunately there's no way to know if 216 was the cause or not. But whatever happened the OS decided to create a new one which is why it reads 158/22 hours. This could be a bad sign. Record more programs and see if the drive is making noises, having delays or loosing programs. There's also a hard drive diag in the menu 6 area but I've never ran it myself and don't know what it's checking.

It could be a coincidence that it happened right after installing L216. A couple of other things were going on also. Atmospheric conditions were strange, causing fluctuations in signal amplitude that I don't usually see, with occasional pixelizations. Also, I paused this program for several minutes while it was recording. The hard disk is not making any unusual noises, nor did it during the disk wipe, but I'll run the disk check later today.

Just a few minutes ago I forced a download of L216 and had no such problem with stored settings or programs. So far everything seems normal.

Did you lose the local channel WLAC-DT in your EPG when 216 loaded? If so then that may be what caused you to lose the recording.

When a recording is played back, the browse banner comes up for the channel where the recording originated. If the channel got locked-out (as has been the case for many of us) then that may be the cause of the lost recording.

No, I subscribe to LIL and WLAC-DT remained in the guide after the L216 install. I did the install after making the recording I had a problem with. In other words, I made the recording - installed L216, and a couple of hours later tried the playback that wiped the disk while displaying a blank screen.

I lost my recordings for the first time with L215.

Sure hope it doesn't happen again with L216 - I got a lot of the important stuff back when SciFi ran the "popular" Starage episodes right before the new season started.
