I have an ATI 8500 DV all in wonder card in my computer...never had a problem getting tv on the computer with tivo ( just changed to dish & a 942) I've tried just about everything without success...the anoalog feed from TV2 to the ATI card comes out all distorted...I can record to video tape, but need to disconnect the 942 from the video recorder "in" jacks before it will feed properly to the computer.....any suggestions????
I use a ATI 8500 without any problem. I run off the coax set to channel 60. If it is 16x9 braodcast, change the ATI TV to 16x9 and it will come in 16x9 without distortion. You will better quality of course if you use the AV outs from 942, but the coax pretty good.

thanks for the suggestions....my input for the ATI card uses a cable that plugs into the firewire port on the computer and has rca jacks for audio and rca or s-video for the video inputs...is there an adaptor for the coax that I could use....? also, when you say to use the AV out on the reciever are you talking about the #4 output shown on page 23 of the manuel? if so, is there some type of adaptor for that type of plug that can jack in to the computor? ( I recieved a cable with my unit to plug into that output that is reminicient of a USB cable but a little larger..) It says it is for plugging into an HDTV monitor
I misread the ATI you were using. When I saw 8500 I was thinking ATI AIW 8500 which is what I have. The AV output I talking about is #8 on page 24. The #4 on page 23 HDMI which is used for the HDTV (those that are equipped with it). My ATI AIW 8500 has COAX and S-video and regular video in. The cable you received with 942 is a HDMI cable with adapter for Composite (#3 on page 23).
What cables are you using to connect the 942 to your HDTV?

I'm connectiong to my HD tv with the component video outputs......I tried those av outputs (the # 8 ones)to hook up to my ATI AIW 8500dv card the very first thing I tried, but it wouldn't work. The picture came through but it was all distorted. they are the same ones I use to input to the VCR and then run the VCR to the TV and they work fine for that..I'm stumped....thanks for your input
You may have a technical problem with the DV8500.
Since they work fine for the VCR, try connecting the VCR out to the DV8500. If it distorted, then something might be wrong with the DV8500.
