If I understant this correctly, the 942 gets the EPG data from network channels that Dish provides instead of using the PSIP data included in the broadcast stream. It also seems that this is a business decision on Dish's part to try and get subs to subscribe to LILs (something I expect the FCC will speak against eventually).
Now what if a sub had LILs but was required to give them up in order to keep distants ? Since the sub is still paying Dish for providing the network but it's the distant instead of the local, wouldn't it seem that should entitle the customer to receive EPG data?
