I recorded a program off an LIL (satellite-delivered) local and another off OTA. The name of the programs in the DVR list varied based on where the program came from:
The LIL program had the correct name of the program.
The OTA had the call letters of the OTA station preceeding the program's name.
If an OTA has no guide data the program is "Local Programming"
I don't have a way to do a screen shot, so I'll type it out:
"7/24 Tuck Everlasting"
"7/24 WEWS Notting Hill"
"7/24 WDLI Local Programming"
The inclusion of the call letters on OTA stations that get guide data may be a "left-over" from the time when no OTA guide data was available (hence the similarity to the program recorded off the station without guide data).

That correct the "WDLI Local Programming" was from the time before your free locals was enabled.
Are you sure that 811 is providing local guide data? If so what method PSIP or dish's guide? I asked this question a while back and got various kinds of replies.
It's obvious that dish doesn't want 921 owners to have local EPG because of how they reacted to L215. They working even faster on L217 so they don't have keep giving us free OTA.

I have read various posts that indictate that the 811 does get OTA guide data, how it does it is not clear. I havn't seen an 811 up close to see for myself, however I'm willing to bet E* is the source for the data, much like how 215 worked (LIL's in red on "all chan", mapped to the OTA's).
FYI: The WDLI program was recorded the same day as the other two programs in my example, so that recording was after 215/216. The point I was trying to make was recording made OTA off chanels with EPG data get the call letters in front of the program name. "WEWS Notting Hill". "WEWS" is my local ABC affilliate, "Notting Hill" is a movie that was on ABC in prime time this past Sunday. WDLI is a station that is not carried by E* in the LIL package, hence it has no programming data in the EPG. It's a TBN affilliate out of Canton, OH and carries 4 SD feeds: -01 TBN, -02 Church Channel, -03 JCTV, -04 Enlace TBN. I believe they are getting The Church Channel and JCTV off a DirecTV dish, for I have seen promos for programs with references to channel "3XX" (I don't recall the exact channel number but it was in the 300 range. On E* thats in the Premium channel range).

If dish is providing 811 with their version of the local guide then it is totally unfair to withold it for the 921/942. They're even charging $5 DVR fee for some reason.
The L215 exposed the fact that this is possible and I really though that dish was finally rewarding us. But after discovering that non-sub were getting free info they rushed out L216 which backfired because it's now costing them real dollars to fix but most importantly they displayed their true motives which is to persuade customers to subscribe. Believe it, people are subscribing to unnecessary locals just for guide info.
The explanation about "7/24 WEWS Notting Hill" versus "7/24 WDLI Local Programming" makes perfect now. One is being provided with dish data while the other isn't.
PS: If "EPG only" (mentioned in my poll) could become a reality then you could expand more DMAs (ie Canton/Arkron) and get full titles in your prerecorded programs. I might be willing to pay a buck per DMA but $5-6 is out of the question.
You're right, it really should be free if 811 are getting it.

Akron/Canton is in the Cleveland DMA. E* does not carry WDLI because it's "main" feed is TBN, which supposedly made a deal with E* to not carry their local stations as long as the national feed of TBN was carried on the satellite. Bottom line there is no EPG data available for WDLI.
I also get 2 Youngstown stations OTA (actually 3, the NBC carries the WB on a subchannel). Since that DMA is on Superdish 121 I did not get the guide data with 215. However I did get guide data for WPXI-DT, the NBC from Pittsburgh! I briefly locked onto WPXI last month. I kept it in my EPG even though I could not receive it on a regular basis (I even have a short recording of a WPXI news promo and a clip from their "Weather Plus" subchannel in the DVR). Unfortunately 215 had one bug that almost zapped my hard drive. My 921 went into a different kind of "safe mode" (like Windows safe mode - not just the 480i feed to all outputs that the term "safe mode" implies in the 921 manual). Luckily, I did not lose my recordings, only lost the scanned OTA's. I moved 2 miles to the west and have not been able to receive WPXI at the new location. I t would have been interesting to see if WPXI woul have still been in the EPG under 216 (I lost all the -01 OTA's until I got the temporary fix - free LIL's).
