View Full Version : 942 as a single-tuner receiver?

I just received a new 942 to replace my 6000.
It would be very difficult for me to run a 2nd line
into my basement family room to support the 2nd tuner.

Dish is going to upgrade my DISH 500 and SW64 to DishPro+ and use
a seperator, so that I can get the full function 2 tuner functionality
with the single coax run....

Now my question....

Its going to be 3 weeks before the install is done. As you can imagine,
I'm hungry to play with my new 942 NOW. Even as a single
tuner unit for the time being. Can I do this? Teir 2 Tech Support at
Dish told me I cannot, that both satellite inputs must be connected or
else the unit will not work correctly, and will likely lock up. She
even refused to activate my new 942.

I'm certain i read here before that it can be done. How? Do I need to
terminate the un-used Sat2 input? Any help much appreciated...

After playing with/learning the 942 last night, I was successful in getting it to operate with just Sat1 input, as a single-tuner receiver.....

If you have only one of your tuners connected, you will run into problems. Please keep that in mind, when timers start not recording.

Mark,

Timers were an issue until I configured it like this:

- Dual Mode
- Record Plus Enabled
- Record Preference TV1

All has been working perfectly now for almost 2 days, including numerouse timers.
