OK, I have a DP34 for my 119,110, and 61.5 (Voom and east coast CBSHD). I had dish install the first DP34 when they added the 61.5 dish about 5months ago. I had ordered another DP34 for my dad that never got used. About 2 months ago the boxes lost signal on port 1, then 3. So i swapped in my extra DP34 and all was well for a while. Now I keep getting break up on sat 119 transponder 16 (Where hgtv is which we recorded from the most).

Now I watch the point dish screen and the signal strength goes from 89-91 to 50's back to 89-91 and back low again every few minutes or more often.

My question is do DP34's suck or is there a reason why i have gone through two of them in less than 6 months. Would getting a dpp44 be more reliable? I am sick of getting mini break-ups and "part of recording lost due to signal loss" mesages on most of my HGTV recordings (design on a dime, design remix, designers challenge, etc...

Is anybody else getting these breakups on HGTV channel or is it my multiswitch setup? Do i need to try to get stronger signal on that transponder?

Jon,

The fact that your signal is dropping from 90 to the 50s says that it is a problem with your setup (otherwise we would see dozens of complaints). The only way to know for sure if it is your switch or the LNB or cables is to connect the 119 LNB cables (one at a time) directly to your receiver and watch the signal strength on the transponder you are having a problem with. Before you start I would look at the signal on some of the other transponders and see if it is dropping. If it is, I would suppect a cable or LNB.

thats a good idea to hook up the two feeds to my 942 without the dp34 and see if it still does it. The reason it cant be a bad cable is that my 921(when it was hooked up), 942 and my 510 have different cables from the multiswitch and they all do it. It could be a cble from the lnb to the multiswitch.

I never thought that the lnb itself could be bad. Is that more liekly then two dp34s failing in less than 6 months?

There have been too many posts on this forumn regarding 119 sat problems and tp 16 is one of the problem transponders, still think it is a dish problem and not an equipment problem

i had a problem like yours with it going from 80's down to the low 40's and it wasnt the switch it was in my cable not being tight enuff .it wasnt getting a good enuff connection to the switch ,I took a pair of channel looks and tighten them down a little and the numbers went back up. you may also want to check your dish aiming ? it may now be pointing at or threw a line of trees as you did say it was fine before everything was in full bloom 5 or 6 months ago. hope this helps good luck :)
