From SF Gate:

Something in the air
Satellite radio is 'hear' to stay, having quickly established a major foothold in the sports broadcasting market. What does this mean for the local fan, and for local stations?

Alternative radio takes on a different meaning, particularly for sports fans, when it comes to satellite radio. XM and Sirius give listeners plenty of options, some much more worthy than others.

Do you want to hear a major-league baseball broadcast other than the A's or Giants'? Try XM MLB Channels 176-190. Are you a pro football fan who simply cannot get enough information about the NFL? Check out Sirius NFL Radio Channel 124. Do you enjoy ESPN Radio's mix of interviews, discussion and updates? Go to XM Channel 140 or Sirius Channel 120.

I'm a baseball fan AND a football fan.

The market needs a receiver that can receive BOTH services..... I keep hearing rumors that next generation chips will make this possible, but no hard info yet that I've found.....

I do think Satellite Radio will survive. At least XM will. But don't expect AM-FM to go away either. I have XM and love it. But I also like AM-FM for my local sports shows.
