the info in that thread doesn't mean that 2.29 could have been for 921s also...

But the info in this thread by Mark - http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=43437 - post #5... indicates that this was a mistake by DISH on their web page :)

P.S. .. it was pleasant to see Mark's participation in that thread ;)

The tech portal never showed a release scheduled for the 921 today. Mark is wrong. :)

OOPS: Mark is right, the Dish Software Chart page does show that. The tech portal page never did, though.

Why is Mark wrong??? ... What he said ment exactly what you just said after all:
That's an error on their page - the 942 is going to L229 today. The 921 is not.


[EDIT] .. but also .. Mark was referring to a different page of course.. to the one that i go by when reporting info in those "started testing..." threads... to this one:

It definitely says on DISH's software page so it may not be just for the 942s. You can't just look at one thread and assume that's the full story. :) In your words, see here: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/customerCare/technical/software_versions/index.asp

Mark Lamutt is probably right though. Unlike the 522 and 625, the 921 and 942 are not the same re-branded receiver. I can't imagine DISH trying to develop the same software code for two different sets of hardware. The software page will probably be corrected tomorrow when someone sees it.
