I've spent 5 or 6 hours trying to figure this out. Before I smash all this stuff, thought I'd see if anyone can help me.
I have an RCA HD directv box (model 210 I think), a 42" sony grand wega tv, and a new pioneer 531H-s dvr (with hdd).
Whenever I try to record a directv sd program, and i play it back the recording includes pillars, plus the TV puts another set around the playback, resulting in a way squished picture. The directv receiver is apparently feeding the pillars as part of the image to be recorded. :nono2:
I've tried every setting i can think of on the tv, the receiver, and the dvr...and everytime its the same thing...i can record ota channels just fine. I'm pretty bummed about this, hope somebody can help me out. Thanks in advance.
